Beth discovered her love for teaching over 20 years ago when she was working as a nature educator in college. She has worked with children from kindergarten through sixth grade before finding her true home teaching first grade at Dummerston School in 2017. Beth earned a BA in Sociology and Psychology from the UMASS Amherst and a MA in Elementary Education from Westfield State University.
Beth believes in nurturing students academically, socially, and emotionally so that they can grow as caring and respectful community members. As a once struggling reader herself, she understands how important it is to support her young students in their development of literacy skills. She finds joy spending time in the forest, facilitating STEAM projects, and getting children excited about science.
When she's not in the classroom, Beth loves spending time outdoors with her family. You can often find her gardening, thrifting, listening to music, swimming in the river, or curled up with a good book.
